IOI regularly implements a number of fully operational annual training programmes on ocean governance with one in each major ocean region of the globe. With the programmes IOI aims to train young and mid career practitioners annually, particularly from developing countries and countries in transition, in the contemporary approaches to coastal and ocean management, with an emphasis on the moral, ethical and legal values in Ocean Governance (equity and peaceful uses of the ocean).

Herewith, IOI contributes towards a growing global network of trained and empowered leaders who are fully conversant with the latest developments in ocean governance and have acquired the knowledge, skills and essential attitude for effective governance of the planet’s precious ocean resources.
