Eligibility of the Applicants

The programme welcomes participation from individuals interested in learning about the ocean, including members of Women's Groups and Community Organisations, Indigenous Communities, Beach Management Units (BMU) leaders and representatives, Youth representatives, Government Officials, Extension Workers, Academia and Research Institutions, Environmental NGOs, Civil Society Organisations, Educators, and Trainers. Participants selected for the course are expected to fully commit to attending and actively participate throughout the entire duration of the course. Additionally, access to a computer, laptop, or phone with internet connectivity is required to complete all course activities effectively.

This course focuses on Introduction to Plastic Pollution and its Solutions for a Healthy Ocean. Its core objective is to provide participants with an understanding of the challenges posed by plastic pollution in the ocean and the solutions that can be applied to address the problem and safeguard ocean health. The course covers key thematic areas, including the goods and services provided by the ocean, threats to marine resources and ecosystems, with a focus on plastic pollution, waste management strategies and circular economy approaches, Ocean governance and policy frameworks to reduce plastic pollution, Building resilient coastal communities against the impacts of plastic pollution. Participants will also explore the socio-economic implications of plastic pollution and the policies that support efforts to address it. By the end of the course, participants will have the knowledge and tools to contribute to protecting and improving ocean health by reducing plastic pollution.

Kozi hii inalenga Utangulizi wa Uchafuzi wa Bahari kwa Plastiki na Suluhu kwa Bahari Yenye Afya.
