The engagement and commitment and excellent work of the IOI Ocean Academy Directors has been the foundation upon which the success of the IOI Ocean Academy Ocean Literacy outreach programme relies. So a big thank you goes to Akanbe (Nigeria), Anuwat (Thailand), Aruna (Sri Lanka), Azmath (Maldives), Elif (Turkiye), Jai (Singapore), Javed (Pakistan), Joana & Cristina (Portugal), Judy & Kirshia (South Africa), Karim & Zina (Morocco), Kwame (Togo), Lamiaa (Egypt), Liliana (Mexico), Marika (Georgia), Mauro (Costa Rica), Monique (Suriname), Olfa (Tunisia), Rebecca (Germany), Sheila (Kenya), Victoria (Ukraine), Vinitaa (India), and their teams too!
By the end of 2025, 52 IOI Ocean Academy Courses will have been successfully delivered globally by the IOI Ocean Academy Directors based in Costa Rica, Egypt, Georgia, India, Kenya, Maldives, Mexico, Morocco, Nigeria, Pakistan, Portugal, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tunisia, Türkiye, Ukraine, and another two new nodes, Suriname and Togo.
The programmes are offered in 19 local languages or dialects including Arabic, Dhivehi, Dutch, English, Ewe, French, Georgian, Hindi, Marathi, Moroccan Dialect, Portuguese, Sinhala, Spanish, Swahili, Thai, Tunisian Dialect, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Urdu, attracting over 5,000 applications from interested persons world wide and with around 3,000 persons accepted to attend the various modules.
The feedback received from the participants of the IOI Ocean Academy, continues to show that they value the knowledge gained and the diverse, engaging nature of the programme. Here are some highlights of the feedback received, in their words:
