Participants who register for the training and attend at least 80% of the total training time can indicate their intention if they wish to receive a certificate.

This training course aims to provide participants with knowledge and understanding of how significance of marine biodiversity at national and global scale. The course elaborates the history of marine biodiversity resource utilization from the past to the era of resource degradation and crisis. It introduces the National Marine and Coastal Ecosystem Assessment (NMCEA); makes an understanding of the goals of marine protection and conservation under the Convention on Biological Diversity; introduces marine protected areas both within and outside national jurisdiction including lessons learned from the management of protected and conserved areas in Thailand; enhances community-based management to maintain natural balance; and takes an in-depth look at the emerging treaty for the conservation and protection of marine biological diversity- the common heritage of mankind in the high seas. 

การฝึกอบรมในครั้งนี้มีความมุ่งหมายที่จะให้ผู้เข้ารับการฝึกอบรมได้รับความรู้และความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับความสำคัญของความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ และสถานภาพปัจจุบันของทะเลไทยและโลก ประวัติศาสตร์การใช้ทรัพยากรความหลากหลายทางทะเล จากอดีตสู่ยุควิกฤตการณ์ทรัพยากรเสื่อมโทรม การประเมินการบริการของระบบนิเวศระดับชาติ การทำความเข้าใจเป้าหมายการคุ้มครองและการอนุรักษ์ทางทะเลตามอนุสัญญาว่าด้วยความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพ การบริหารจัดการพื้นที่คุ้มครองทั้งในและนอกเขตอำนาจรัฐและการบริหารจัดการโดยชุมชนเพื่อรักษาสมดุลธรรมชาติ การถอดบทเรียนการจัดการพื้นที่คุ้มครองและพื้นที่อนุรักษ์ในประเทศไทย รวมทั้งเจาะลึกอนุสัญญาเกิดใหม่ในการอนุรักษ์และคุ้มครองความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพที่เป็นมรดกร่วมกันของมนุษยชาติ
