Discover the essence of collaboration in a Global North/South context during this intensive 1.5-week training course. With a co-design approach, you will craft a transdisciplinary research project plan, emphasizing its potential for making a positive societal impact.

Engage in invaluable exchanges with international academia, practitioners, and experts in knowledge transfer and communication at the science/policy interface. Our comprehensive lectures cover theoretical backgrounds, concepts, and methods, spanning from transdisciplinarity and project co-design to navigating the complexities of aligning goals and visions among diverse actors from various backgrounds. Addressing vital aspects of research quality in a transdisciplinary context, you will explore strategies for addressing inequalities, managing teams, resolving conflicts, and achieving impactful outcomes. Each topic will be enriched with real-world examples and insights shared by practitioners, making your learning experience both practical and inspiring.

Additionally, we recognize the significance of effective science communication, especially when engaging with non-academic audiences. Our training in this area will equip you with the necessary skills to communicate your research effectively and make a difference beyond academic circles. Moreover, in practical group work, you will apply your knowledge directly to coastal and marine case studies of your choosing, guided by experienced instructors.

Important information: 

• Central daily lecture from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM CEST to be attended by all participants
• Practical individual and group work throughout the day to network with program fellows, follow up on class work, and develop the transdisciplinary component of an existing or future project
• Participation in the course is free, but places are limited
• Previous experience in transdisciplinarity is not required, but preference given to participants with concrete plans for applying the covered topics in their work or are in the "design" phase of a project
