বাংলাদেশ একটি অত্যন্ত গুরুত্বপূর্ণ সমুদ্র নির্ভর রাষ্ট্র, এর অর্থনীতি মূলত বঙ্গোপসাগরের বাণিজ্য এবং পরিবহনের ওপর নির্ভরশীল। যেহেতু দেশের অধিকাংশ উপকূলীয় জনগোষ্ঠী মৎস্য সম্পদের ওপর নির্ভর করে, তাই বাংলাদেশ অপরিহার্যভাবে এর টেকসই সামুদ্রিক পরিবেশের ওপর নির্ভর করে।

আইওআই ওশান একাডেমি, বাংলাদেশর এই কোর্সটি সমুদ্র সম্পর্কে আগ্রহী সকলের জন্য প্রণয়ন করা হয়েছে। এর মূল লক্ষ্য হলো নাগরিকদের প্রয়োজনীয় জ্ঞান দ্বারা ক্ষমতায়িত করা, যাতে তারা টেকসই ব্যবস্থাপনা এবং সমুদ্র সুরক্ষায় সক্রিয় "ওশান সিটিজেন ইনিশিয়েটিভ" বা সমুদ্র-সচেতন নাগরিক উদ্যোগের অংশ হতে পারে।

এই কোর্সের মডিউলগুলোতে অন্তর্ভুক্ত রয়েছে মৌলিক সমুদ্র শিক্ষা নীতি, সমুদ্র সুশাসন, সমুদ্র আইন বিষয়ক জাতিসংঘ কনভেনশন (UNCLOS), এবং বঙ্গোপসাগরের প্রেক্ষাপটে নির্দিষ্ট পরিবেশগত ও অর্থনৈতিক বিষয়সমূহ। এই প্রশিক্ষণটি ২০-ঘণ্টার মডিউলের মাধ্যমে বাংলা এবং ইংরেজি উভয় ভাষায় অনলাইনে প্রদান করা হবে। সকল নির্বাচিত অংশগ্রহণকারীদের জন্য এই কোর্সটি সম্পূর্ণ বিনামূল্যে প্রদান করা হবে।

Bangladesh is a crucial maritime nation, its economy largely depends on maritime trade and transportation through the Bay of Bengal. As most of its coastal population relies on fisheries resources, the sustainability of Bangladesh critically relies on the sustainability of its marine environment. Thus, the IOI Ocean Academy, Bangladesh programme is designed for interested persons from all walks of life who are interested in the ocean.

The primary goal is to empower citizens with the knowledge necessary to become an active part of "Ocean Citizen Initiative" for sustainable management and ocean protection. Course modules will cover Basic Ocean Literacy Principles, Ocean Governance, the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), and specific environmental and economic issues relevant to the Bay of Bengal context. The training will be delivered in both Bangla and English through 20-hour modules through online platforms. This course will be offered free of charge to all selected participants.
