The two-week training programme, focusing on issues of the Western Pacific Ocean, was held in hybrid format and attracted 26 participants from eight countries, including China. Participants from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Thailand followed the course lectures online, joined by their Chinese colleagues attending in person in Tianjin, PR China.
The programme covered topics such as ocean governance beyond national jurisdiction, the international legal framework for ocean governance, marine environment and ecosystem protection, integrated marine and coastal zone management, monsoon season and its social and ecological impacts, the blue economy, key technologies and practices of marine dual assessment, and more. Lectures were provided by local experts and an international faculty joining online.
Successful participants were awarded certificates at the graduation ceremony held on the last day of the course.
