IOI@50: Presentation of a token of appreciation from IOI to HE George Vella, President of Malta; 17th June 2022
During a ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Malta, the IOI Honorary President Dr Awni Behnam – via video message – conveyed to HE George Vella, President of Malta, the IOI’s recognition and appreciation for hosting the IOI HQ over the first fifty years of its existence.

UN Ocean Conference, Lisbon; Highlight on Side Events with IOI participation
As an organization in consultative status with ECOSOC, the IOI shall be represented at the UN Ocean Conference (UNOC) with a delegation of three persons. This builds on the IOI’s commitment to the process, which started with the first UNOC held in 2017 in New York.

This was the first in person meeting of the ICP since the onset of the pandemic and Ms Liliana Rodriguez Cortes, Delegate of the IOI to the UN HQ represented IOI during the first day of the meeting.

Successful completion of the 8th IOI training Programme on the Sustainable Development and Governance of the Caspian Sea, 16th - 27th May 2022
The eighth course focussing on Caspian Sea issues came to a fruitful completion last month. This course is part of the IOI’s capacity building programmes on ocean governance and is offered with co-founding partner the Caspian Sea Institute of Turkmenistan.
